How to Avoid Heart Disease? 5 Steps

  1. DON’T SMOKE- nicotine constricts and narrows your blood vessels. Overtime, it can cause damage.
  2. CONTROL YOUR DIET- Always look at food labels and cut back on saturated fats, trans fat, and cholesterols like butter and oil.
  3. EXERCISE EVERYDAY- At the very minimum, 30 minutes of aerobic exercises like running, biking, swimming, or soccer.
  4. CONTROL YOUR WEIGHT- Using a scale, weigh yourself every morning. This simple step is found to be most helpful when preventing heart related conditions. You can buy a scale for less than $10 at your local stores.
  5. VISIT YOUR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER- Your PCP can listen to your heart to detect problems and establish specific plans for you.
